Three months ago today I married my best friend. And just a few days ago we received our wedding video.
If you aren’t our immediate family/bridal party, you likely aren’t interested in watching the duration of that 28-minute video. So our videographer created a 5-min wedding preview: the greatest moments that tell our story and document our wedding day in a manner you likely prefer: short, sweet, and succinct!

Guys, I know our wedding looked magical, but I’ll be the first to tell you – it wasn’t perfect! Plenty of things went wrong. And I know Clay and I look like we have the perfect relationship (wink, wink – kidding), but I’ll also be the first to tell you – we aren’t perfect. And we do plenty of things wrong. (Seemingly, somehow me way more than Clay!)
But you know what’s beautiful about never being able to achieve perfection here on this earth – specifically with weddings and marriage? Knowing we never will, but the One who lived a perfect life waits for us in Heaven, prepares a place for us at His right hand, and will one day give us the absolute perfect wedding and marriage of which we’ve always dreamt.

You see, the book of Revelation reveals to us the promise that there will one day be a wedding far greater than any wedding we’ve been to, experienced, or will ever see here on earth. It’s the wedding of Christ with His people, His followers, with all believers. The Bible often depicts Christ as the bridegroom and us as His bride. And the book of Revelation depicts the wedding we’ll one day have with Him.
More than that, we will live in a perfect “marriage” with Him – joined as one, together forever. It’s the ultimate love story for which we could ever hope. (I’m actually writing a book on it now!)

Clay always says, “Weddings are a foretaste of the Kingdom – of the best that’s yet to come.”
In a way our wedding preview – or “highlight reel” as our videographer calls it – is demonstrates that metaphor: our highlight reel is a preview of the full “greatness” of our wedding video (I use that term lightly there); as our lives are a preview of the full greatness that is our future wedding with Christ.

May we be reminded that in the same way this video is a preview of our wedding video, our lives – and our love stories – here on this earth are merely a preview of the best that is yet to come.
