On March 13, I felt her move for the very first time. It was a moment I’ll never forget. Clay and I were sitting on the couch watching tv, and all of a sudden I felt this movement inside my belly…
I felt her.
For the very first time.
And it was truly incredible.
Truth be told at our last doctor’s appointment, I found out I have an anterior placenta—which means the placenta is in between her and my skin… which means I won’t be feeling her as much or as soon—and I may or may not have shed a couple of tears.
After all we’ve been through, I so wanted to be able to feel her. But sure enough nine days went by, and I did!
God is truly good. He gives us good gifts. Since then I’ve felt her quite a few times—though I’ll be honest: at this stage it’s difficult to discern whether it’s her or gas bubbles/digestion!
Speaking of good gifts—we got the cutest little wooden frog instrument from our dear friend Pastor JJ from our church partner in Brazil. It’s things like these that make this beautiful life growing inside of me all the more real. And the fact that my belly is finally starting to look like there’s a baby in there and not just bloat!
If you’re worried about something, just remember we never know what’s around the corner. We never know what God will do. And all too often we limit His abilities and goodness! In Matthew 7:9-11 Jesus says, “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”
He’s a good Father who indeed gives us good gifts! And this story, to me, is one small but beautiful piece of proof of that!
