I stood in the shower and sobbed as the following words resounded in my mind:
“He is who He says He is.”
He carried me through that 18 hour labor and delivered me to deliver her.
⠀⠀
He is who He says He is.
⠀⠀
I had never fathomed such pain. Never thought such pain was bearable by a human being. And yet, He met me in it.
He walked with me up that mountain. He carried me when I was too weak to go on. And He delivered me to the mountaintop moment of feeling the weight of her warm body against mine. Of looking into her for the very first time.
⠀⠀
He is who He says He is.
⠀⠀
And when the waters rose—when her heart rate dropped, and when we were both losing oxygen, and when the room flooded with doctors, and when the words I’d feared were uttered in panic—I closed my eyes. I saw Him there. And I experienced a calm in the midst of the storm. I watched as His angel went and rescued her. And when I opened my eyes He delivered us from the trauma, as I delivered her safely into this world.
⠀⠀
He is who He says He is.
⠀⠀
Those words He spoke in Isaiah 43:2 are true. Still. Today. Real. Tangible.
And when I pass through the waters of my present and future, I will remember this evidence—this story within my story.
And it will fill me with strength, and fuel me with hope, for all the mountains ahead and waters before me.
⠀⠀
What evidence do you have of the truth of these powerful words from God?
I’m certain you have some.
Would you look back, go back, read back through journals, scan back through photos. Would you remember and would your story, too, fill you with strength and fuel you with hope as you scale mountains and traverse waters.
⠀⠀
No mountain is too high. No waters too deep or wide.
⠀⠀
He is who He says He is.
