I’m a recovering overachiever. My whole life I have, for some reason, thought I had to earn, prove, and produce. (Of course this was unconscious.)
I’ve believed the lie that I have to earn love—from God and others.
I’ve believed the lie that I have to prove my worth and value by producing and achieving.
Since getting married, I have begun to uncover some of the lies the enemy has whispered into my ear from a very young age.
And since becoming a parent, I’ve unknowingly embarked on one of the most healing endeavors for my soul.
For I have now seen a glimpse into just how much God loves us—before we have done anything.
And I have now seen a glimpse into just how much God loves me—regardless of what I accomplish here on this earth.⠀⠀
Our God rejoices over us. He looks down upon us with such admiration. He hold us up by our hands. He laughs with us, sings with us, and dances with us.
Our God loves us with a love that our human minds and hearts can only begin to fathom.
Next time you see a child, or gaze upon your own, perhaps you will be reminded of this truth—this most beautiful, glorious, healing, and freeing truth.
“The Lord your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.”
– Zephaniah 3:17“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
– Romans 5:8“So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
– Isaiah 41:10
