Alright guys, it’s Friday. It’s time to celebrate, to cheers, to the weekend!
I’ve updated my “banana bread bliss smoothie” recipe with some new tweaks + treats! {I ditched my previous protein powder as I realized it had some not-so-great hidden stuff in it! Yikes!}
This new recipe is full of flavor and void of anything bad for you! #winwin
Without further ado–
chocolate banana bread smoothie
In a Vitamix or blender add the following {Note: These are all estimates. Smoothie-making is an art, not a science. Feel free to tweak as your heart + tastebuds desire!}
- 1 cup organic ice {kidding. about the “organic” part, not the ice}
- 1/2 c. organic frozen blueberries {Costco sells these in big bags!}
- 1/2 frozen banana {I simply chop when ripe + store in freezer.}
- 1 c. organic frozen cauliflower rice / chard / spinach / kale {choose one, or mix, whatever}
- 1/3 c. Harmless Harvest raw coconut water {traditional coconut waters have been heated and thus depleted of nutrients. Harmless Harvest is the way to go. Costco sells them in 4-packs for much cheaper than Whole Foods.}
- 1/4. c. organic almond milk {check to make sure there are no carageenans–a cancer-causing chemical; we like Whole Foods 365 brand, but the best option is to make your own.}
- 1/4 c. organic walnuts {Costco sells big bags! Walnuts have antioxidants, decrease inflammation + improve gut health among other things!}
- 1 scoop Vital Proteins collagen peptides {We order through Amazon Subscribe + Save each month or so–in addition to the powders listed below.}
- dash cinnamon {helps to stabilize blood sugar}
- 1/4 t. organic vanilla extract
- 1/2 T. organic maca root powder {increases fertility, libido, mood + energy}
- 1 t. organic ashwagandha root powder {has natural healing powers! er, I mean, properties! reduces blood sugar, has anti-cancer properties, reduces stress levels and depression, increases fertility + muscle mass, and on an on the list goes.}
- 1/4 t. organic mucana powder {improves nervous system, energy, intellect + more}
- 1-2 T. organic cacao powder {rich in antioxidants, iron, magnesium, and calcium + tastes ah-mazing}
- 1 T. organic ground flaxseeds
- 1 T. organic cold-pressed flax oil
Viola. Blend + pour. Drink + enjoy!
As always, I feel the need to emphasize my love for super-frozen smoothies. I store mason jars in the freezer as well as all the fruits and veggies I use so that my smoothies are so thick + frozen that I have to eat them with a spoon! My hubby on the other hand couldn’t care less! #toeachtheirown
